Before deciding what belongs on the homepage, decide what a client should be able to hire you to change.
In my work with experienced professionals, the challenge is often organizing expertise into a focused offer. A person may have substantial results across several roles and still struggle to describe the engagement a prospective client can buy.
Find the connection in the work
Review the situations where your contribution mattered most. What was unclear, difficult, or stalled? What did you do? What changed? Which parts of that work do you want to offer again?
The answers help distinguish a repeatable capability from a list of responsibilities. They also give you evidence for the story you will tell.
Make four decisions before the build
- The buyer: Who has a problem you can address and a reason to act?
- The engagement: What will you deliver, what does it require, and where does your responsibility end?
- The proof: Which examples demonstrate the contribution the buyer needs?
- The delivery model: What time, tools, communication, and boundaries will make the work sustainable?
Then build the path from interest to engagement
The website should make the value and offer understandable. The inquiry process should collect enough context for a useful conversation. Proposals should make scope and responsibilities clear. Onboarding should help the client know what happens next.
These pieces reinforce one another. An attractive offer that cannot be delivered within your capacity needs revision. A strong delivery model that buyers cannot understand needs a clearer story.
The practice needs both a reason to buy and a way to deliver.
Start with one offer you can explain
Write a short description of whom you help, what you do, and what the client receives. Test it in real conversations. Listen for the questions people ask, refine the offer, and build the systems around the version you can deliver with confidence.
Use AI to build from a clear value proposition
In Value to Vision, I begin with the client, problem, offer, and evidence. We turn those decisions into website copy, then use AI-generated code to build the site and host it on Netlify. I review and refine the output so the message, layout, and visitor journey support the offer.
Some clients want me to lead the build. Others want to learn how to shape prompts, revise code, check a page, and manage their site. I offer a build-and-coach approach for that second path. Both begin with the same foundation: a value proposition the right client can understand.
